Scientific studies done by both Asian and West scientists shows that we can highly benefit from green tea. In fact, the Chinese have always known these said benefits.

What makes green tea special is the fact that it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidants that inhibits the growth of cancer cells and it also kills cancer cells but DO NOT HARM healthy human cells. It also lowers LDL cholesterol levels and prevents the formation blood clots (thrombosis). Thrombosis leads to heart attack and stroke.

With its bacteria-destroying abilities, green tea prevents food poisoning, kills bacteria that can cause dental plaque. It also helps in preventing tooth decay!.

Studies also shows that green tea extract with a combination of caffeine can burn calories more than a simple caffeine or placebo alone.

EGCG is an amazing thing but high doses can cause a drop in folate levels.
